WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have taken an 18-year-old man into custody on multiple charges, including possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, following his suspicious behavior.

On December 28, at around 4:23 p.m., officers from the Uniformed Services Division were patrolling the 1400 block of West 2nd Street when they noticed a subject acting unusually. On making contact with the individual, identified as Brandon Wiggins, police allege that he physically resisted arrest. He was subsequently detained without further incident.

Upon arresting Wiggins, officers found him in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun, leading to a series of charges against him. Alongside the felony firearm possession charge, Wiggins also faces allegations of carrying a concealed deadly weapon, second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest.

Following his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, Wiggins was remanded to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $78,000 cash-only bail.

It is crucial to note that these charges are allegations at this stage. As with all defendants in the judicial system, Wiggins is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
