Wilmington Man Arrested on Robbery Charges Following Police Investigation

Vaughn Brittingham

WILMINGTON, DE — Following an extensive investigation, Wilmington Police have arrested a local man on charges of armed robbery.

The case began on February 1, when members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to a reported armed robbery in the 1000 block of West 8th Street at approximately 12:22 p.m. The investigation was subsequently assigned to Detective James Rook of the Criminal Investigations Division.

Through diligent detective work, Rook identified Vaughn Brittingham, 29, as a suspect in the case. Warrants were obtained for Brittingham’s arrest, and on February 28, police located him in the 1200 block of West Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident.

Brittingham now faces several charges, including first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited. Following his arraignment in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas, Brittingham was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution. His bail has been set at $140,000 cash-only.

As is standard in all criminal cases, these charges are allegations, and Brittingham is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Further details may emerge as the investigation continues.
