WILMINGTON, DE — A man has been arrested on several gun and drug charges following an investigation into illegal drug trade within the city, announced the  Wilmington Police.

The Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division of the Wilmington Police had been conducting an investigation since December into alleged illicit drug sales in the 2600 block of North Pine Street. On January 5, at around 3:03 p.m., officers carried out a motor vehicle stop in the 200 block of East 28th Street. The police took 31-year-old Giotto Berry into custody without any reported conflict.

Following the arrest, officers executed a search warrant in the previously investigated area of North Pine Street. The search reportedly uncovered two 9mm handguns, a loaded .45 caliber handgun, substantial quantities of crack cocaine and marijuana, $524 in cash, and drug paraphernalia.

Berry now faces multiple allegations including six counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver in Tier 2 and 3 quantities, receiving a stolen firearm, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

After his arrest, Berry was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas. He has since been committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, with bail set at a cash-only sum of $74,000.

It is crucial to remember that these charges are currently allegations. Berry, like any accused individual, is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
