On the evening of February 10, at approximately 5:36 p.m., officers from the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 1400 block of Maryland Avenue. Upon arrival, they made contact with 48-year-old Joseph McDaniel.

McDaniel was taken into custody without incident. During the arrest, officers discovered that he was allegedly in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun and .287 grams of heroin.

Following the arrest, McDaniel has been charged with three counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, one count of carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and one count of possession of a controlled substance.
