WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have taken a local man into custody on multiple gun and drug charges following an extended investigation into illegal drug sales.
The investigation, led by the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division, began in January and focused on illicit activities in the 1300 block of West 4th Street. On February 16, at around 10:01 a.m., police executed a search warrant on the block and arrested 40-year-old Javier Acevedo without incident.
During the operation, officers allegedly recovered a loaded .380 caliber handgun, a loaded 9mm handgun, 60.5 grams of cocaine, $3,681 in cash, and drug paraphernalia.
Acevedo is facing numerous charges, including four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver in Tier 3 quantity, possession of a controlled substance in Tier 3 quantity, receiving a stolen firearm, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Following his arraignment in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas, Acevedo was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $243,200 cash-only bail.
