WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington man has been arrested on drug charges following an operation by the city’s Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division.

On March 1, at approximately 10:36 a.m., officers were conducting an operation in the 900 block of Kirkwood Street when they reportedly observed a male individual involved in drug-related activity. The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Lewis Ames, was arrested without incident.

Upon arrest, police allegedly recovered 3.6 grams of crack cocaine and .091 grams of heroin in Ames’ possession.

Ames has since been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and released after posting a $2,000 secured bail.

As with all criminal cases, details are subject to change as investigations continue and more information becomes available. It is important to note that an arrest does not constitute a declaration of guilt, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The case against Ames is still under investigation, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
