WILMINGTON, DE — The Wilmington Police Department arrested a man on charges of alleged drug possession and tampering with physical evidence.

Around 10:18 a.m. on January 5, members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division were patrolling the 800 block of Kirkwood Street. It was there that they reported witnessing 35-year-old Robert Chandler involved in what they believed to be drug-related activity.

Officers approached Chandler near East 9th and Kirkwood Streets and placed him under arrest without any reported confrontation. Police reportedly recovered 3.9 grams of crack cocaine, a powerful and illegal stimulant, during the arrest.

Chandler now faces serious allegations. He has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, an offense that carries significant potential penalties under Delaware law. Additionally, Chandler is accused of tampering with physical evidence, a charge that suggests an attempted destruction or concealment of crime-related evidence.

Following his arrest, Chandler was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas. He has since been committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution, with bail set at $3,000, unsecured.

Nevertheless, these charges remain allegations. Chandler, like all defendants, is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
