WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on March 3.
Members of the Uniformed Services Division were called to the 700 block of North Adams Street at approximately 3:04 p.m., where they found a 27-year-old male with gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
The case was assigned to Detective Joran Merced of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through diligent investigation, Detective Merced identified 22-year-old Shawn Keys as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest.
On March 8, members of the Safe Streets Task Force located Keys in the 500 block of East 5th Street. He was taken into custody without incident. Subsequently, police executed a search warrant in the same block, which led to the recovery of two 9mm handguns and two .380 caliber handguns.
Keys faces charges including first-degree assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, discharging a firearm on a city street, and two counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $160,100 cash-only bail.
