Wilmington Man Arrested for Illegal Possession of Firearm

WILMINGTON, DE — On October 24, members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division of the Wilmington Police Department apprehended a man alleged to be in possession of a firearm. The incident occurred around 12:39 p.m. in the 300 block of West 7th Street.

According to the criminal complaint, Officers on duty observed a male subject, later identified as 34-year-old Christopher Williams, visibly carrying a firearm. Williams was approached by police and taken into custody without any reported incident. Upon arrest, he was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun.

Following his arrest, Williams has been charged with two counts of Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited, as well as Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon.

After being arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11, Williams was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution. His bail has been set at $22,000, payable only in cash.

The Wilmington Police Department is urging anyone with further information related to this case or other criminal activities to come forward and assist law enforcement in keeping the community safe.
