WILMINGTON, DE — The Delaware State Police have arrested 62-year-old Elijah Beckham of Wilmington, Delaware, on allegations of gun and drug offenses. The arrest follows a search warrant executed yesterday morning at Beckham’s residence in Wilmington.
On January 3, 2024, at approximately 11:30 a.m., members of the New Castle County Drug Unit conducted a search at a residence on the 800 block of N. Spruce Street in Wilmington. This action stems from a two-month-long investigation into Beckham, who was suspected of large-scale narcotics distribution. Beckham was taken into custody at the residence without incident.
During the search of the home, authorities reportedly discovered two handguns, multiple rounds of ammunition, approximately 7.1 grams of cocaine, around 22.8 grams of marijuana, and an estimated $27,066 in what is suspected to be drug dealing proceeds. Various items believed to be related to drug distribution, such as digital scales and packaging materials, were also found.
Following his arrest, Beckham was taken to Troop 2, where he was charged with several crimes, including possession of a firearm by a person prohibited who also possesses a controlled substance (two counts), possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited (two counts), and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Beckham was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and subsequently released after posting a $53,000 secured bond.
As this case unfolds, it is crucial to remember that all charges are only allegations at this stage. According to the principles of the American legal system, every suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
