WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have taken a male juvenile into custody on allegations of gun possession.

On December 23, around 3:07 p.m., officers from the Uniformed Services Division were patrolling in the vicinity of the 200 block of West 36th Street. Their attention was drawn to a male juvenile, whose behavior was deemed suspicious. Upon making contact with the 12-year-old, officers discovered him to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun. The juvenile was subsequently taken into custody without any reported incidents.

The juvenile now faces multiple charges, including two counts of Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited and one count of Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon. After his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, he was released on $15,000 unsecured bail.

As this is an ongoing investigation, further details may emerge that could potentially alter the current narrative of events. It is crucial to bear in mind that these charges are, at present, allegations. The accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
