Westbound Route 283 Closure Planned for Beam Setting on Strickler Road Bridge

Traffic Restrictions

RAPHO TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has issued a reminder of the upcoming closure of westbound Route 283 to facilitate the setting of beams on the Strickler Road (Route 4045) bridge. This bridge, which spans the westbound lanes of the highway, has been closed since last October due to a vehicle strike.

Weather permitting, the closure will begin at 8:00 PM on Friday, August 16, and continue until 6:00 AM on Monday, August 19. During this period, westbound motorists on Route 283 should exit at the Mount Joy/Route 230 Exit. They will then need to travel west on Route 230 through Mount Joy Borough, turn right onto Cloverleaf Road, and proceed to the Cloverleaf Road Interchange to rejoin westbound Route 283.

Additionally, a detour for Strickler Road is in place, directing traffic via Route 772 (Mount Joy Road), Breneman Road, and Zink Road.

Ryland Construction Company, Inc., based in Mount Wolf, is the contractor for this $652,696 project. All work associated with this project is expected to be completed by October 11, 2024.

Motorists are advised to remain alert and follow the posted detour routes to ensure safety and minimize travel disruptions.
