BENSALEM TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced upcoming closures on Rockhill Drive and two U.S. 1 ramps in Bucks County as part of a $116 million project to reconstruct, widen, and improve a three-mile section of the highway.
The closures are scheduled to take place from 8:00 PM on Friday, April 4, through 5:00 AM on Monday, April 7. During this period, Rockhill Drive will be closed at Horizon Boulevard, along with the ramps from northbound U.S. 1 to Rockhill Drive and from westbound Rockhill Drive to southbound U.S. 1.
Detours have been established to guide motorists around the affected areas. Northbound U.S. 1 drivers heading toward the east side of Rockhill Drive will be directed to exit at Penndel/Business U.S. 1, turn left onto southbound Old Lincoln Highway, proceed left onto Bristol Road, and turn right onto Neshaminy Boulevard to access Rockhill Drive. For those traveling to the west side, the detour remains similar but excludes Bristol Road.
For westbound Rockhill Drive motorists attempting to reach southbound U.S. 1, the detour will guide drivers northbound on U.S. 1 to exit at Penndel, turn left onto southbound Old Lincoln Highway, and rejoin the ramp to southbound U.S. 1.
PennDOT has advised motorists to anticipate significant delays in the vicinity of these closures. Drivers are encouraged to plan their routes carefully and allow extra time for travel.
All construction activities are contingent upon favorable weather conditions and may be adjusted as needed.
