PHILADELPHIA, PA — Philadelphia drivers, be forewarned: The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced imminent barrier repairs on Interstate 676 this weekend that may lead to slow or halted traffic.
Starting from 12:01 AM on Saturday, January 13, until 5:00 PM on Sunday, January 14, commuters can expect left lane closures in both directions on I-676. Eastbound traffic will be affected between the Broad Street (Route 611) on-ramp and the 8th Street off-ramp. Simultaneously, westbound traffic will see closures between the Vine Street on-ramp and the Broad Street (Route 611) off-ramp.
The work is expected to cause considerable disruption, with potential backups and delays. Motorists are advised to approach the area with caution and be prepared for slow or stopped traffic.
As always, these plans are weather dependent, and any changes to the schedule due to inclement weather will be communicated via PennDOT’s various information channels.
The upcoming weekend might be an excellent opportunity for Philadelphians to explore the city’s many public transit options or perhaps enjoy a leisurely bike ride or walk if their plans allow. Regardless of how you choose to navigate the city this weekend, stay safe, be patient, and plan your journeys accordingly.
