Wawa Makes History with First Store Opening in Georgia

WAWA, PA — Wawa, the beloved convenience store chain, is set to make its mark in Georgia with the grand opening of its first location in the state. The inaugural store will open its doors at 1401 Tallahassee Hwy, Bainbridge, GA on November 14, 2024. The celebration will commence with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m., following the store’s opening at 8 a.m.

This historic event will feature a range of festivities, including Wawa’s signature “Hoagies for Heroes” initiative, which honors everyday heroes in the community by providing them with complimentary hoagies. Additionally, the grand opening will spotlight Wawa’s community partnerships and support for local organizations, reflecting the company’s commitment to being a strong community partner.

Nancy Dulaney, Director of Store Operations, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, stating, “We are thrilled to begin our expansion into Georgia with our first store in Bainbridge. We can’t wait to host our grand opening and look forward to bringing our unique brand of fresh food, beverages, and convenience to Georgia.”

Wawa has ambitious growth plans in Georgia, with a pipeline of sites under contract in several locations including Brunswick, Jesup, Hinesville, Pooler, Waycross, Tifton, Valdosta, and Albany. Over the next five to eight years, Wawa aims to open over 26 stores in the state, with an annual target of three to four new openings. Each store represents a $7.5 million investment and will employ approximately 140 contractors and local partners during construction. Post-opening, each location will create around 35 permanent jobs, contributing to an estimated total of over 900 new long-term positions across Georgia.
