Wanted Man Nabbed on Drug Charges by Wilmington Police

WILMINGTON, DE — In a routine patrol on West 4th Street, Wilmington Police have apprehended a man previously sought after by law enforcement. The arrest took place without incident at around 11:15 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

The suspect, 21-year-old Nhyjee Evans, was found in the 1200 block of West 4th Street. Upon contact with the police, it was discovered that he was not only a wanted individual but also in possession of 3.8 grams of crack cocaine.

Evans is now facing charges for Possession of a Controlled Substance, a significant addition to his existing outstanding warrant. Following the arrest, Evans was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11. He is currently held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution as he awaits further legal proceedings.

It is important to remember that an arrest or charge does not equate to guilt. Under the law, every suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
