VILLANOVA, PA — Villanova University is set to launch a new certificate in International Tax, starting in fall 2024. This initiative comes as part of an expansion of professional offerings within the Charles Widger School of Law and its Graduate Tax program.

The certificate program will encompass five courses, covering international mergers and acquisitions, transfer pricing, inbound and outbound transactions, foreign tax credit rules, and taxation of foreign currency transactions. The program can be pursued independently or alongside the Master of Taxation or Master of Laws in Taxation degrees.

Mark C. Alexander, the Arthur J. Kania Dean of Villanova Law, expressed his enthusiasm for the new offering, stating, “Students and employers have consistently requested more educational opportunities in international tax law. By creating this certificate, we will enable students to delve more deeply into the subject and gain the skills the industry demands.”

The International Tax Certificate aims to provide comprehensive knowledge of global taxation, from concepts to practice. It will focus on key topics such as transfer pricing methodologies, intangible asset valuation, documentation requirements, and the U.S. penalty system. The program is designed to equip tax professionals with the expertise to navigate the complex global tax landscapes that affect international markets.

Applications for the International Tax Certificate for fall 2024 are currently open, with classes set to commence in August.

The Villanova University Graduate Tax Program, founded in 1980, combines real-world education with professional responsibility in tax practice.
