Upcoming Construction on U.S. 422 in Montgomery County to Cause Delays

Traffic Restrictions

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that construction will continue next week on U.S. 422 as part of two separate improvement projects in Montgomery County.

From Monday, December 11 to Thursday, December 14, a single lane closure is set to occur on the eastbound U.S. 422 between Oaks (Egypt Road) and Bridgeport/Valley Forge (Route 23) interchanges. The closure, which will be in effect from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, is for sawcutting and joint sealing operations in Upper Providence and Lower Providence townships.

For the second project, a single lane closure will be in place from Monday, December 11 through Friday, December 15. This will affect westbound U.S. 422 between Evergreen Road and Armand Hammer Boulevard from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Finnally, eastbound U.S. 422 between Armand Hammer Boulevard and Evergreen Road will also see a single lane closure from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. These closures will facilitate temporary barrier installation, clearing and grubbing operations in Lower Pottsgrove Township.

Motorists are being advised to allow extra travel time due to expected backups and delays in the work areas. All scheduled activities are subject to weather conditions.

The sawcutting and joint sealing operations are part of a $6.9 million project aimed at rehabilitating the pavement between the Route 29/Phoenixville and Route 363/Trooper Road interchanges.

Meanwhile, the barrier installation, clearing and grubbing operations are part of an ambitious $83.6 million project. This project aims to reconstruct and improve approximately 1.7 miles of the expressway and replace two bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road.
