Unprovoked Assault Under Investigation in Cumru Township

CUMRU TWP, PA — The Cumru Township Police are currently investigating an assault incident that took place on Sunday, February 11, 2024. A 54-year-old male was allegedly attacked by an unidentified man in his 30s or 40s, who is described as either white or Hispanic.

The incident took place around 4:21 P.M. at the Rite-Aid located at 500 E. Lancaster Avenue in Cumru Township. The suspect, characterized as having bald or close-cropped hair and dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt, long black shorts, and white sneakers, reportedly confronted the victim about a perceived insult once inside the store.

According to reports, the suspect then punched the victim several times in the face, knocking him to the ground. Even after the victim fell, the suspect allegedly continued to assault him before fleeing on foot towards Shillington. It was noted that the victim had no previous interaction with the suspect prior to the assault and was unable to understand why the suspect wanted to fight him.
