U.S. 422 Construction: Major Traffic Delays Expected in Montgomery County!

Traffic Alert

LOWER POTTSGROVETWP, PA — Commuters utilizing U.S. 422 in Montgomery County should brace for significant traffic disruptions as construction continues on a critical $83.6 million improvement project.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that from Monday, September 16, to Friday, September 20, there will be intermittent lane closures on westbound U.S. 422 between Evergreen Road and Armand Hammer Boulevard from 4:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Concurrently, eastbound lanes between Keim Street and Evergreen Road will experience closures from 9:00 AM to 5:00 AM the following morning.

This extensive project aims to reconstruct approximately 2.1 miles of the expressway. The improvements include enhancing horizontal curve radii, increasing shoulder widths, and improving vertical clearances to bolster both travel efficiency and safety. Structural upgrades will involve replacing a culvert at Sprogels Run and constructing a new two-span bridge over Porter Road. Additionally, the bridge over Sanatoga Road and Sanatoga Creek will be reconstructed and widened.

Motorists are advised to plan for additional travel time due to expected delays and backups in the area. All construction activities are contingent upon weather conditions.
