Traffic Alert: Construction Narrows Columbus Boulevard, Expect Delays

Traffic, lane closed

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Starting Monday, July 1, northbound Columbus Boulevard at Penn’s Landing will shrink to two lanes, a reduction from its usual three. This change, lasting through late August, is part of the $329 million Interstate 95 CAP project aimed at enhancing the area over the interstate in Center City Philadelphia. The project, which seeks to replace and expand the covered section, will necessitate PECO utility construction, impacting traffic flow.

Additionally, the adjacent Delaware River Trail will see bicyclists and pedestrians sharing space due to the construction activities. Motorists navigating this stretch between Market Street and Dock Street are advised to anticipate possible traffic backups and delays, adjusting their travel plans accordingly.
