WEST READING, PA — Tower Health announced that Dr. Robert Brigham will join its Board of Directors for a three-year term.
Dr. Brigham expressed his dedication to the health system. “My commitment to the health system remains as strong today as when I was a practicing physician,” he said. “I’m honored to rejoin the team and hope to help advance the positive momentum of Tower Health for our patients and our communities.”
Dr. Brigham retired from Reading Hospital after a distinguished 41-year medical career. He played a key role in establishing Berks County’s first Level I Trauma Center. He also contributed significantly to the development and opening of Reading HealthPlex for Advanced Surgical & Patient Care in 2016. The surgical suite now bears his name, honoring his service.
Throughout his tenure, he educated nurses, medical students, residents, and fellows. He served in several leadership positions, including on the Reading Hospital Board of Directors for 20 years. He was Chief of the Department of Vascular Surgery, Chair of the Department of Surgery, and President of the Board of Directors at the Reading Hospital SurgiCenter at Spring Ridge.
P. Sue Perrotty, Tower Health President and CEO, praised Dr. Brigham’s return. “Dr. Brigham’s legacy remained in the forefront of everyone’s mind, we knew his expertise would make a wonderful addition to our Board,” she said. “It is a privilege to work alongside him.”
In addition to his career at Reading Hospital, Dr. Brigham is a retired Colonel in the Medical Corps of the United States Army. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point and graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his Fellowship and Residency training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Brigham’s extensive experience and commitment to healthcare are expected to be valuable assets to Tower Health as it continues to serve its community.
