NEWARK, DE — Delaware State Police have arrested three teenagers, aged 13, 14, and 15, in connection with a robbery that took place at Christiana Mall earlier this month.

On December 3, 2023, troopers were alerted to a robbery that occurred the previous day in the parking lot of Target, located at 800 Christiana Mall. The victim, also a teenager, was reportedly waiting at a bus stop near Target when he was approached by multiple suspects.

According to the police report, two of the suspects, both from Wilmington and aged 14 and 15, physically restrained the victim while a 13-year-old from New Castle made off with the victim’s phone.

The following day, Christiana Mall Security informed troopers that the suspects, as identified from the mall’s video surveillance footage, had returned to the property. Officers promptly located the 13-year-old and the 15-year-old inside the mall, arresting them without any trouble.

Both suspects were taken to Troop 2 and charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree conspiracy, both felonies. They were arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11. The 13-year-old suspect was held at the New Castle County Detention Center on a $5,000 secured bond, while the 15-year-old suspect was released to a parent after posting an equal amount in bond.

Meanwhile, detectives from Troop 2’s Robbery Unit identified the 14-year-old as the third suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest. On December 11, 2023, the 14-year-old was located and arrested by detectives. He was also charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree conspiracy, both felonies. Following his arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 11, he was committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on an $8,000 cash bond.

The Delaware State Police remind the public that an arrest, or a criminal complaint, is not an indication of guilt. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Investigations into the robbery continue.
