WILMINGTON, DE — A 17-year-old male has been arrested by the Wilmington Police in connection with a shooting incident that took place on February 20.

Police responded to a call at approximately 5:42 p.m. on February 20, which led them to the 1800 block of West 4th Street. Here, they found a 17-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was then transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Detective Kevin Nolan of the Criminal Investigations Division was assigned the case. Through his investigation, Detective Nolan identified a 17-year-old male as a suspect and secured warrants for his arrest. The teen, who had been arrested following the shooting incident on unrelated charges by another agency, was already being held at the New Castle County Detention Center.

The 17-year-old has now been charged with first-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, and criminal mischief under $1,000.

He was arraigned in the New Castle County Superior Court and given a $131,000 cash-only bail for the above charges. He remains committed to the New Castle County Detention Center.

As always, it’s important to remember that charges are merely allegations. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
