Teen Arrested in Gripping Wilmington Shooting Case—What Led to the Shocking Attack?

Arrest

WILMINGTON, DE — A 16-year-old male juvenile has been charged in connection with an alleged December 2024 shooting that injured a 28-year-old man in Wilmington, police announced this week.

The incident occurred on December 28, 2024, around 12:45 p.m., when Wilmington officers responded to the 1100 block of Davis Street following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, authorities discovered the victim with gunshot wounds. The man was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Detective Kevin Nolan from the Criminal Investigations Division led the investigation into the case. Evidence and inquiries conducted by the detective eventually identified the 16-year-old as a suspect. On January 22, officers arrested the juvenile without incident in the 100 block of Salem Church Road.

The suspect has been charged with first-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. He was arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and subsequently committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $130,000 cash-only bail.

Officials stress that all charges are allegations, and the juvenile is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
