TD Bank Awards $200K Grants to Three Pennsylvania Nonprofits

TD Charitable Foundation

CHERRY HILL, NJ — TD Charitable Foundation, the philanthropic branch of TD Bank, has provided $200,000 grants to three Pennsylvania-based nonprofits as part of its 19th annual Housing for Everyone program. The initiative targets pressing challenges faced by low- and moderate-income (LMI) homeowners, with the goal of stabilizing communities and preserving homeownership.

The grant recipients include the Affordable Housing Centers of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia Legal Assistance Center, and SeniorLAW Center. Each will deploy the funding to address specific threats homeowners encounter, ranging from foreclosure to tangled property titles.

The Affordable Housing Centers of Pennsylvania will channel the funding into its homeownership success program, which empowers homeowners through tools like financial capability education, foreclosure counseling, and estate planning. This program is aimed at helping homeowners age in place and ensuring their property can be passed down to future generations.

The Philadelphia Legal Assistance Center plans to use its grant to provide direct legal representation for homeowners in Philadelphia. The initiative will assist low-income homeowners facing foreclosure or those struggling with “tangled titles,” ensuring equitable owners can secure legal title to their homes and maintain stability.

SeniorLAW Center’s Homeownership Rights Project (HRP) will benefit from the funding as it focuses on aiding older, low- to moderate-income homeowners. Their efforts will specifically benefit BIPOC communities that often experience disparities in homeownership. SeniorLAW plans to tackle foreclosure, contractor fraud, and other barriers while advocating on multiple levels for greater equity and education.

“Amid rising housing costs, these organizations play a vital role in supporting homeowners… while ensuring homeowners have the resources and resilience they need to sustain long-term homeownership,” said Paige Carlson-Heim, Director of the TD Charitable Foundation.

With the grants in place, Pennsylvania’s nonprofit recipients are poised to make significant strides in protecting vulnerable homeowners and fostering stability in their communities. Through programs like these, TD Bank reinforces its commitment to helping individuals achieve financial and housing security.
