PHILADELPHIA, PA —The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced the closure and detour of the U.S. 1 South Ramp to westbound Interstate 76 and City Avenue due to structural damage resulting from a vehicle strike. The closure will remain in effect until PennDOT bridge engineers and their contractor can complete the necessary repairs to ensure the safety of the ramp.

Motorists who typically use the U.S. 1 South Ramp to access westbound Interstate 76 and City Avenue are advised to follow the posted detour routes. During the closure, drivers will be directed to use eastbound I-76, Montgomery Avenue, and then westbound I-76 as an alternate route.

As a result of this closure, commuters and local residents should anticipate delays and backups in the area. It is advised to plan accordingly and allow extra travel time to account for these disruptions.

The closure and detour have been implemented as a precautionary measure to address the structural damage caused by the recent incident.
