LANCASTER, PA — Ross Peeples, manager of the ‘Stormers, has announced the signing of two players for the upcoming 2024 season. Outfielder Chad Sedio is set to return for a second stint, while righthanded pitcher Jack Labosky will be joining the squad for his first tour in the Atlantic League.

These signings bring the total number of players under contract for the Barnstormers up to seven. Chad Sedio, who will turn 30 in March, joined the Barnstormers last season and appeared in 29 games, batting .274 with six doubles, a triple, two homers, and nine RBI. The Cleveland, Ohio native also scored 20 runs during his time with the team.

Before coming to Lancaster, Sedio had a four-season career in the Detroit Tigers system, peaking at Class AAA Toledo. In 2021, he had an incredible season with Florence of the Frontier League, boasting a .319 batting average with 47 extra base hits in 95 games. Sedio also played for Milwaukee of the American Association in 2022 and began last season in Mexico.

“Chad will play both outfield and infield for us this season,” said Peeples. “He has a good approach at the plate and has shown throughout his career how good of a hitter he can be.”

Joining Sedio is newcomer Jack Labosky, who pitched in the Tampa Bay Rays organization from 2018-2022, including a brief spell for Class AAA Durham in 2022. The 27-year-old California native has a noteworthy record of walking only 28 batters in 185.1 innings with the Rays, compiling a 3.35 ERA over five years.

Before his time with the Rays, Labosky played four seasons with Duke University, where he had a remarkable 2.58 ERA. He also batted .263 with 21 homers while playing in the infield. Labosky gained national attention in 2019 when he converted a used school bus into a mobile home for the season.

“Jack throws a ton of strikes,” said Peeples. “He gets a lot of ground balls and can either start or relieve. He got the itch to play again after taking last year off, so we are going to give him that opportunity.”

The Barnstormers will kick off their quest for a third consecutive Atlantic League championship at Long Island on April 25. The home opener at Clipper Magazine Stadium is scheduled for April 30 at 6:45. With these new signings, the Barnstormers continue to demonstrate their commitment to maintaining a strong team as they aim to build on their success.
