PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Manayunk Development Corporation is ushering in the holiday season with its annual Holidays in Manayunk event series, featuring five weeks of festivities that promise to transport visitors into a winter wonderland. Starting November 14, the district will host a variety of events including the Tree Lighting Ceremony, Manayunk Gets Lit, and Small Business Saturday, each designed to bring the community together in celebration.

The festivities begin with the Tree Lighting Ceremony at Canal View Park, where attendees can enjoy performances by The City Belles, John Gilbride, and Emily Drinker. Santa will be on hand for a meet-and-greet, accompanied by the enchanting snowfall on Main Street. The event will mark the unveiling of a new holiday tree adorned with festive lights and ornaments.

As the season progresses, Main Street will come alive with Manayunk Gets Lit, a decorating competition among over 50 local businesses, each vying for the title of most festive storefront. Visitors can vote for their favorite displays, with winners announced on December 18. The Manayunk Jolly Trolley will offer complimentary rides along Main Street, allowing passengers to take in the lights and enjoy holiday treats.

Caitlin Marsilii, Events Coordinator for the Manayunk Development Corporation, expressed excitement about the celebrations. “Every holiday season, we take pride in showcasing the true heart of our district—our vibrant local businesses and the incredible community that supports them,” she said. “With the collaboration of residents, local shops, and visitors, Main Street transforms into a festive, one-of-a-kind experience that feels straight out of a movie.”

Small Business Saturday on November 30 invites shoppers to support local businesses, with special promotions and the introduction of the Manayunk Small Business Saturday Passport. Shoppers can earn stickers from participating stores to win prizes and enter larger giveaways.
