PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Lincoln Mill Haunted House in Manayunk is set to deliver an unforgettable fusion of science fiction and horror with its one-night-only pop-up event, “Darkness Rising.” Scheduled for Saturday, May 3, the immersive experience leads up to Star Wars Day, celebrated annually on May 4. Showcasing live scare-actors, cinematic-quality sets, animatronics, and special effects, this event promises a galactic thrill for Star Wars and horror fans alike.
The storyline takes visitors to a forgotten textile mill’s hidden chamber, where the mill’s foreboding owner, Darth Kane, seeks souls to claim for the Dark Side. The transformed space includes ultraviolet lighting, a cosmic aesthetic, and a chilling Star Wars-inspired soundtrack. Jared Bilsak, co-founder of Lincoln Mill Haunted House, shared his excitement about merging the Star Wars universe with the mill’s narrative.
“This is the first-ever Star Wars-inspired haunted house,” Bilsak explained. “The Star Wars story and characters are strong, and they’ve inspired me when writing the Lincoln Mill story. I always saw our main villain, Viktor Kane, as having many similarities to Darth Vader, one of the greatest villains of all time.”
Adding to the immersive terror, Sith-inspired costumes and make-up will shape the scare actors, while inventive props like “sabersaws”—chainsaws with a lightsaber twist—heighten the experience. Bilsak emphasized the creative evolution of the Lincoln Mill story, which incorporates these off-season events. “For fans of both Star Wars and horror, this event is for you!” he added.
Lincoln Mill has become known for its unique seasonal programs, including a Christmas-themed holiday haunt and Valentine’s-inspired attraction earlier this year. The venue, located at 4100 Main Street in Manayunk, is surrounded by restaurants and bars for guests seeking a full evening out. Onsite food, beverages, and a partnership with New Ridge Brewing Company ensure attendees can enjoy refreshments before or after their tour.
Doors will open from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on May 3, with standard admission priced at $32 and VIP tickets available for $47. Early parking reservations and public transit options ensure convenient access for all attendees. Tickets are on sale at www.lincolnmillhaunt.com.
With the debut of “Darkness Rising,” Lincoln Mill’s commitment to blending storytelling and innovation shines. The event not only celebrates the intersection of sci-fi and horror but also sets a new standard for immersive attractions. Looking ahead, the venue plans to continue expanding its lineup of dynamic, interactive experiences.
