St. Joseph’s University Pedestrian Bridge Construction Continues on City Avenue

Traffic Alert

PHILADELPHIA, PA — A.P. Construction, Inc. is set to resume work on the pedestrian bridge at St. Joseph’s University, located on U.S. 1 (City Avenue) in Philadelphia and Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County. The construction will commence on Monday, November 27.

The project will necessitate a 24/7 left lane closure on U.S. 1 (City Avenue) in both directions between Cardinal Avenue and Lapsley Lane. This closure will be in effect from Monday, November 27, through Friday, December 8.

Motorists are advised to anticipate disruptions and allow additional travel time due to potential backups and delays in the work area. The construction schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions.

The pedestrian bridge forms part of a broader initiative to enhance accessibility and safety for students, faculty, and visitors at St. Joseph’s University. The completed bridge will provide a 21-foot-wide, ADA-accessible pathway beneath City Avenue, improving connections between campus facilities and local neighborhoods.
