PHILADELPHIA, PA — Philly is about to get a taste of something cool and delightful this spring. Today, March 19th, Cloud Cups, a new name in artisanal gelato, is inviting everyone to celebrate their grand opening with a scoop of happiness – for free!

Cloud Cups’ new scoop shop, café, and production facility will be opening its doors at 1:00 p.m. The first 100 patrons from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. will enjoy a scoop of gelato on the house. The venue is none other than the MaKen Studios located at 3525 I Street, Philadelphia, PA 19134. With a grand 2,000 square feet spanning over its first floor, the spot will serve as a perfect setting to make Cloud Cups’ dream of franchising their love for gelato come alive.

The man behind Cloud Cups, Owner, and Gelato Artist, Galen Thomas, has always envisioned having his gelato shop and café. Coming from a humble beginning with a mobile gelato cart, his journey has led him to establish this full-scale café, shop, and production facility.

On opening day, be prepared to indulge in an array of mouth-watering treats, including nationwide shipping, citywide delivery, all-natural gelato-scented candles, exciting new Cloud Cups merchandise, and novel collaboration flavors.

Keeping inclusivity at heart, Thomas is also introducing a new line of non-dairy vegan gelato, expanding the existing range of vegan sorbets. With a heartfelt tribute to his late friend, Charisse McGill, Thomas has introduced two flavors created with French Toast Bites by Lokal Artistan Foods. The icing on the cake is a delicious partnership with the famous Elkins Park Cheesecake Lady for entirely new flavors.

Initial operating hours will be Wednesday to Sunday, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m with an extension to more hours and days as the warm weather of late March or early April arrives.

The meticulously designed space is guaranteed to make you feel like you’ve stepped inside a cloud. It boasts custom-designed murals, tables and counter seating, merchandise area, and lounge. It will soon expand to include production and classes, offices for staff, and co-working spaces.

Thomas’s dedication and craft have won him widespread recognition. His gelato was named one of the best in the nation by the Today Show. He’s among the top 11 gelato makers on the East Coast, as named by Gelato Masters.

Furthermore, Cloud Cups will partner with local foodies, community members, and influencers on special flavors throughout the year. So, with a vision to stir sweetness and creativity in every scoop, Cloud Cups is all set to serve Philadelphia a real treat.
