The arrests, made on March 18, highlight the persistent efforts of law enforcement to curb the distribution and possession of controlled substances within the community.

During the late morning hours, officers from the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division conducted a vehicle stop in the 800 block of West Street. The stop involved a car driven by a 17-year-old male, accompanied by another 16-year-old male, 21-year-old Jovon Malloy, 18-year-old Cshaun Washington, 20-year-old Clyde Penny, and a second 16-year-old male. The six were taken into custody without incident.

The subsequent investigation led to the discovery of various drugs and related items within the vehicle. Among the seized substances were 7 grams of fentanyl-laced marijuana, 21.4 grams of crack cocaine, 1.07 grams of heroin, and 17.7 grams of marijuana. Additionally, $3,510 in cash and drug paraphernalia were recovered, painting a concerning picture of the scope of the operation.

Charges levied against the individuals include possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver in tier 3 quantity, conspiracy (second degree), and possession of drug paraphernalia, among others. The severity of the charges reflects the quantity of the drugs involved and the presumed intent behind their possession.

The 17-year-old driver faces multiple offenses alongside traffic violations, resulting in his commitment to the New Castle County Juvenile Detention Center on a notably high bail. Similarly, the other juvenile and adult suspects face serious charges that have led to their arraignment and, in several cases, commitment to correctional institutions pending trial.
