PHILADELPHIA, PA — In a significant event for the Catholic educational community, Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School (Bonner & Prendie) in Drexel Hill will host Sister Mary Scullion R.S.M., the esteemed President and Executive Director of Project HOME. As part of an enriching lecture series, Sister Mary will share her remarkable journey and commitment to serving the homeless in Philadelphia.
The lecture is scheduled for Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. in the Anthony F. Frederico Class of ’69 Auditorium at Bonner & Prendie. The event is open to the public, inviting all to learn from Sister Mary’s insights and experiences.
Sister Mary’s life work has been dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty. She will discuss the inspirations that led her to serve the homeless and share details about her mission at Project HOME. Adding a personal touch to the evening, a resident of Project HOME will accompany Sister Mary, sharing their own story of transformation and hope.
The Alumnae Committee of the B & P Alumni Ambassadors Council hosts the event. Following Sister Mary’s remarks, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a Q&A dialogue session, fostering a deeper understanding of the issues surrounding homelessness and poverty.
The Bonner & Prendie school community, which prays daily for the intercession of Saint Augustine and Saint Katharine Drexel, recognizes Sister Mary as a living embodiment of the love these saints taught and exemplified.
This lecture comes amidst a yearlong celebration at Bonner & Prendie, marking the school’s 70th anniversary since its inception in September 1953. Over the past seven decades, the school has evolved from separate educational institutions for boys and girls to become a coeducational center of excellence in Catholic education, known today as Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School.

The organization’s dedicated team is committed to ending chronic street homelessness in Philadelphia, having already housed 2,200 people.
