SHARON, HILL, PA — Sharon Hill Police Department responded to a reported shooting at a local residence early this morning, only to discover that the call was false, according to Chief Richard Herron Jr.
At approximately 1:27 AM on January 17, 2024, officers arrived on the scene in response to the shooting report. Upon speaking with the residents, they were told that there had been no shooting and that they had not made a 911 call.
The caller, who refused to identify himself to emergency dispatchers, led the police on a wild goose chase. Despite the unfounded report, officers continued their duty by checking surrounding residences and areas for any potential disturbances or threats.
The false call is now under investigation by the Sharon Hill detectives. The department seeks to uncover the identity of the anonymous caller and the motive behind the misleading report.
As the inquiry progresses, additional details may emerge that could potentially alter the current understanding of the situation. It’s important to highlight that any information, criminal complaint, or arrest does not constitute an admission of guilt. Every individual involved in a case is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
