FORT WASHINGTON, PA — Senator Maria Collett (D-12 Montgomery) has announced a substantial infusion of nearly $667,000 in grant funding. The funds come from the Automated Red Light Enforcement (ARLE) program and will be used to improve traffic flow at key intersections in the 12th District.

The ARLE program, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), is designed to enhance safety at signalized intersections through automated enforcement methods. This latest round of funding was highly competitive, with 97 applications submitted statewide. Ultimately, 39 projects across 35 municipalities were selected, sharing approximately $13 million in grant awards.

“Improving Pennsylvania’s roads and infrastructure makes our communities safer, more walkable, and more connected,” said Senator Collett. “This funding will help to enhance traffic flow at several major intersections and build on the vital infrastructure projects already underway across the 12th District.”

Among the recipients in the 12th District are Lower Moreland Township, which will receive $320,100 to upgrade traffic signals at the junctions of Welsh Road and Valley Road and Welsh Road and Lieberman Drive. Salford Township has been awarded $346,723 to modernize signal equipment at Ridge Road (Route 563) and Allentown Road (Route 1001).

These improvements are expected to significantly enhance both driver and pedestrian safety while improving traffic flow in these areas. They represent a continuation of ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure across the district, contributing to more connected and accessible communities.
