PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Sino-American Pharmaceutical Professionals Association – Greater Philadelphia (SAPA-GP) successfully hosted its 23rd Annual Conference at the Sheraton Valley Forge Hotel. The event welcomed over 500 professionals from life sciences, pharmaceuticals, investment, and business sectors, making it one of the region’s most prominent industry gatherings.
This year’s conference featured 58 speakers from academia and industry who presented on diverse topics across six tracks and three panel discussions. Key areas of focus included next-generation drug discovery, clinical development innovations, AI-driven pharmaceutical advancements, global business strategies, and career development. A keynote by Dr. Robert Iannone, Jazz Pharmaceuticals’ Global Head of R&D, provided insights into cutting-edge research strategies.
Networking opportunities flourished with interactive sessions, receptions, and a President Reception aimed at fostering collaboration and partnerships. The event also introduced new initiatives, including a scientific poster session and a pre-conference workshop on generative AI technologies. Engaging younger talent, the debut High School Students Business Pitch Competition generated enthusiasm with innovative proposals from local students.
The conference also marked a leadership transition. Dr. Lu Wang, Director of Process Development at Spark Therapeutics, Inc., assumed the role of SAPA-GP President, while Dr. Xinjun Zhang was named President Elect for 2026-2027. SAPA-GP recognized its volunteers with leadership awards and presented 22 students with the Song Li scholarship for academic achievement.
The annual conference underscored SAPA-GP’s dedication to accelerating innovation, advancing knowledge, and building meaningful connections within the life sciences community.
