PHILADELPHIA, PA — The festive season is set to sparkle in Roxborough as the Roxborough Development Corporation (RDC) presents its annual ‘Happy Holidays from Rox’ event, now expanded into a three-day holiday extravaganza! From Friday, December 8th through Sunday, December 10th, 2023, the Roxborough Pocket Park will transform into a winter wonderland replete with a pop-up market, live entertainment, food, drinks, and much more.
Over 20 unique crafters and artists will fill the indoor market space next to the park, offering a cornucopia of treats and beverages for all to enjoy. Each day promises special entertainment and programming, ensuring a festive atmosphere permeates the entire weekend.
The event kicks off with a tree lighting ceremony on Friday evening, featuring five brilliantly lit trees that complement the muralled walls of the park. Two of these trees will serve as wishing trees, inviting children to inscribe their heartfelt wishes on wooden ornaments.
The holiday cheer continues on Saturday with a visit from Santa Claus himself and festive music courtesy of the Galena Brass Band. As the final day dawns, guests can look forward to visits from Elsa and Anna from Frozen as well as Rudolphi the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
Throughout the week leading up to the event, local restaurants and shops along Ridge Avenue will be offering specials and promotions. These can be viewed on RDC’s event page via a digital coupon book.
Jacqueline Cusack, RDC Executive Director, expressed her enthusiasm about the extended event. “By offering this extended celebration, we hope to entice more visitors to linger, check off their holiday wish lists, and foster a thriving environment that supports our local businesses. Our ultimate goal is to amplify the festive spirit and economic growth within the Roxborough community,” said Cusack.
With its blend of festive cheer, bustling market, delicious food, and live entertainment, this three-day event promises to be a highlight of the holiday season in Roxborough. So, mark your calendars and join in the fun!
