Route 741 Bridge Rehabilitation Begins in Lancaster County

Traffic Advisory

PEQUEA TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has begun a major bridge rehabilitation project on Route 741 (Millersville Road) in Lancaster County. The bridge, which spans the Conestoga River between Rice Road in Lancaster Township and the Circle M Campground entrance in Pequea Township, will undergo extensive repairs aimed at improving its safety and longevity.

The $3.4 million project, carried out by JD Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, PA, will include structural repairs to the bridge’s substructure and superstructure, replacement of expansion dams, resurfacing of the deck with latex modified concrete, application of barrier coatings, guiderail upgrades, and other improvements.

Effective immediately, temporary lane restrictions will be in place during daylight hours as crews begin preliminary work. Later this year, a detour lasting up to 56 days will be implemented to allow for deck work. PennDOT plans to provide further updates ahead of the detour to assist with travel planning.

The rehabilitation project is scheduled for completion by September 19, 2025.
