LANCASTER COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will resume work on a 3.6-mile resurfacing project on Route 23 in New Holland Borough and Earl and East Earl townships later this month. This project, crucial for improving the road infrastructure, had been delayed due to unforeseen drainage issues now set to be resolved by spring 2025.
Work is scheduled to start on Wednesday, September 25, beginning with the replacement of drainage pipes. Following this, final paving will occur on previously milled sections, with completion expected this fall. The project includes full-width milling, base repair, drainage replacement, guide rail updates, and ADA curb ramp construction.
From September 27 to 30, the intersection of Route 23 and Ranck Church Road will close for drainage work, with a detour directing traffic via Route 322, East Earl Road, and Ranck Road. Daytime short-term closures will occur for drainage work, while nighttime lane closures will facilitate paving.
Further drainage work and paving next spring will conclude the project. Motorists are urged to stay alert and exercise caution in the work zones. Allan Myers, LP, is the contractor for this $2.68 million initiative aimed at enhancing road safety and efficiency in the region.
