LANCASTER, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that a section of Route 23 (New Holland Pike) in Manheim Township, Lancaster County, will be closed to through traffic from Monday, May 27, through Sunday, June 2. This closure is due to the United States Golf Association (USGA) Women’s Open at the Lancaster Country Club.
The road will be closed daily from 5:30 AM to 9:00 PM. During these hours, Route 23 will function as a northbound route between Route 30 and Eden Road for permitted traffic only. No through traffic will be allowed, and detours will be in place.
Drivers heading west from east of the closure should take Hellers Church Road south to Horseshoe Road, then Route 340 west to Route 30, and finally back to Route 23. An alternate route uses Butter Road north to Euclid Drive west, then Eden Road west to Route 272 south, and finally Route 30 east to Route 23.
Those traveling east from the west side should take Route 222 north from Route 30 to Route 772 south to Route 23.
Access will be maintained for security, emergency, and service vehicles, residents within the closed section of Route 23, and those on Eshelman Road. Traffic delays are expected. Motorists should plan accordingly.
