LOWER POTTSGROVE TOWNSHIP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced upcoming roadwork next week as part of an $83.6 million reconstruction project on U.S. 422 and nearby routes. The project spans approximately 2.1 miles of the expressway between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road in Montgomery County and includes the replacement of several bridges.

Starting Monday, February 24, through Friday, February 28, various traffic restrictions will be in place to accommodate sign construction and guiderail repair. Specific closures and schedules include:

  • U.S. 422 Eastbound: Reduced to one lane between Route 100 and Keim Street in North Coventry Township daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM for sign installation.
  • U.S. 422 Westbound: Reduced to one lane between Keim Street and Route 100 in North Coventry Township from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM for the same purpose.
  • Route 100 (Pottstown Pike): One northbound lane will be closed near S. Hanover Street in North Coventry Township on Monday, February 24, and Tuesday, February 25, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM for guiderail repairs.
  • Route 724 (Schuylkill Road):
    • Reduced to one lane with flaggers between West Bridge Street and Old Schuylkill Road in East Vincent Township from Wednesday, February 26, to Friday, February 28, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM for sign construction.
    • Reduced to one eastbound lane between Whartnaby Street and Kline Avenue in North Coventry Township for guiderail installation during the same days and hours.

Motorists are urged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time when passing through these areas, as delays and congestion are expected. All construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.
