NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that roadway construction will continue next week on Route 3 (West Chester Pike) in Newtown Township, Delaware County. This ongoing work is part of a local safety improvement project aimed at enhancing road conditions and traffic flow for local residents.

From Monday, December 18, through Tuesday, December 19, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, traffic will be controlled by flagging on Route 3 at the entrance to the Newtown Square Shopping Center. This is due to the installation of a new median traffic signal, aimed at improving the control of vehicular movement in this busy area.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution when approaching the construction zone and to allow extra time for their journeys. Due to the nature of the work, backups and delays are expected. Therefore, it’s recommended to plan travel times accordingly or consider alternative routes if possible.

The completion of the scheduled activities is dependent on weather conditions. PennDOT has assured that it is committed to ensuring minimal disruption during the construction period and appreciates the understanding and cooperation of motorists and the local community.
