SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a series of resurfacing operations set to take place across Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties, signaling potential travel disruptions for motorists in the coming days.
In Delaware County, a mix of night and day operations will affect several key routes. From Sunday, April 21, through Thursday, April 25, evening to early morning lane closures with flagging are scheduled on Concord Road between Bethel Road and U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) in various townships for paving activities. Concurrently, daytime lane closures for utility adjustments on the same stretch will extend into the week until Friday, April 26.
Similar operations are slated for Route 352 (Edgmont Avenue) and Dutton Mill Road, where milling, paving, and utility adjustments will necessitate lane closures during comparable hours and days. Additionally, Route 252 (Newtown Street Road) will see moving lane closures for crack sealing operations into early May, further contributing to potential travel delays.
Montgomery County will experience its share of disruptions as well, with Upper Ridge Road undergoing milling and paving from April 21 through April 26, affecting traffic flow between Route 29 (Gravel Pike) and Route 63 (Main Street).
Philadelphia’s roadways will not be spared, with significant milling and paving work scheduled on Bala Avenue, Barren Hill Road, Joshua Road/Lafayette Avenue, and Stenton Avenue/Penllyn Blue Bell Pike throughout the week. These operations, planned for both daytime and nighttime hours, are poised to impact travel in Lower Merion Township, Whitemarsh Township, and Whitpain Township.
Motorists traversing these areas are advised to allocate extra time for their journeys to accommodate expected slowdowns. PennDOT emphasizes that the timing of these activities is contingent upon favorable weather conditions, suggesting that schedules may shift in response to meteorological developments.
