PHILADELPHIA, PA — Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard has announced its advancement on the Franchise Times Top 400 list, moving up 17 spots to secure the No. 260 position in 2024. This annual ranking is a respected measure of the largest franchise systems in the U.S. based on global sales, reflecting Rita’s continued expansion and popularity.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to be back on the coveted Franchise Times Top 400 list this year,” said Linda Chadwick, President and CEO of Rita’s. “We are grateful, not only to Franchise Times for this recognition, but also to our hardworking franchisees, treat team members and loyal customers who truly embody the spirit of the Rita’s family.”
Rita’s has seen significant growth, with 575 locations now operating worldwide. This year has been particularly fruitful, with expected additional openings by the end of 2024 further cementing the brand’s 40-year legacy as a leader in the frozen treat industry. A key area of expansion has been the Midwest, where new franchises have opened in Ohio and Indiana. In Ohio, the franchise is managed by veteran restaurant executive Jim Myers and his family, while in Indiana, the locations are led by professional football player Zaire Franklin and his former coach Eric Taylor.
Rita’s expansion isn’t limited to new locations. The brand is actively involved in community partnerships, notably with the Eagles Autism Foundation, supported by their Philadelphia hometown team. This collaboration underscores Rita’s commitment to social responsibility, raising funds and awareness for autism research and advocacy.
As Rita’s continues to extend its reach into new regions like Texas and Michigan, the company’s growth trajectory shows no signs of slowing down, with a 5.9% increase in units projected to persist through the fourth quarter. With these developments, Rita’s is well-positioned to deliver more “delicious moments and unforgettable experiences” to fans everywhere.
