Resurfacing Operations to Cause Traffic Slowdowns in Delaware County

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that resurfacing operations will take place in Delaware County next week, leading to several lane closures and anticipated traffic slowdowns.

From Wednesday, May 29, through Friday, May 31, alternating lane closures are scheduled on I-95 in both directions between the Route 452 and I-476 interchanges. These closures, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, will affect Upper Chichester, Ridley, Upland, Chester townships, and the City of Chester for pavement repairs.

Additionally, on Thursday, May 30, and Friday, May 31, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, alternating lane closures will occur on southbound I-95 between the Delaware State line and the Route 420 Interchange for line striping.

Starting Tuesday, May 28, through Friday, May 31, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, lane closures are scheduled for utility adjustments, milling, and paving on the following roads:

  • Cedar Grove Road between Route 252 (Newtown Street Road) and Route 320 (Sproul Road) in Marple and Newtown townships.
  • Wallingford Avenue between Manchester Avenue and Route 252 (Providence Road) in Nether Providence Township.
  • Victory Avenue between Route 3 (West Chester Pike) and the Victory Avenue Bridge over Cobbs Creek in Upper Darby Township.
  • Media Line Road between Route 252 (Newtown Street Road) and Route 3 (West Chester Pike) in Marple Township.

From Wednesday, May 29, through Friday, May 31, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, similar work will be conducted on:

  • Sugartown Road between Valley Forge Road and the Chester County line in Radnor Township.

Motorists should plan for extra travel time as slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

These resurfacing and improvement projects involve repairing, milling, and repaving state highways with new asphalt. This work aims to seal the roadways, providing drivers with a safer and smoother surface.
