READING, PA — Reading Truck Group, LLC (Reading Truck) has broadened its horizons with the recent acquisition of General Body Manufacturing Company, also known as General Truck Body. The move marks a significant expansion for Reading Truck, a well-regarded name in the work truck industry.
General Truck Body, a long-standing distributor for Reading Truck, is a renowned manufacturer and upfitter of work truck bodies, equipment and custom-engineered trucks. With three locations in Texas and one in Kentucky, the company’s acquisition bolsters Reading Truck’s presence, bringing its total facilities to 28 nationwide.
A family-owned business spanning four generations, General Truck Body was established in the early 1900s in Kansas City, Missouri, by Morris Levitch. In 1984, Barbara Levitch Paull took the reins, and her son Josh Paull now serves as President and co-owner. The company is headquartered in Houston, with additional locations in Dallas-Ft. Worth and Louisville, Kentucky.
Jason Connell, President of Reading Truck Equipment, welcomed the new addition to the Reading Truck family. “General Truck Body has an exceptional reputation for meeting diverse customer needs by providing a wide range of services and custom manufacturing capabilities,” he said.
Josh Paull, GTB President, echoed Connell’s positive sentiments about the merger. “The combination of General Truck and Reading is a great fit and will benefit both our staff and our customers. Reading shares our vision and is committed to delivering the highest quality trucks and service nationwide. The Paull family and General Truck Body are proud to join The Reading Truck Group,” Paull said.
The acquisition not only extends Reading Truck’s national footprint but also enhances its commercial truck and van pools for all major Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). Eric McNally, Vice President of Sales and Business Development at Reading Truck, expressed his confidence about the acquisition. “General Truck Body has been a great partner with us. I’m confident that this acquisition will only enhance our ability to serve this market and our customers,” said McNally.
The acquisition of General Truck Body aims to reinforce Reading Truck Group’s commitment to growth and customer service. As it integrates General Truck Body’s operations, Reading Truck is poised to offer an even wider range of products and services to its customers.
