PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a planned ramp construction on Interstate 95 in Northeast Philadelphia next week that will likely cause detours and delays.
On Thursday, March 14, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, the ramp from Aramingo Avenue to northbound I-95 will be closed for the setup of a new traffic pattern. During this closure, motorists will be directed to use Aramingo Avenue and Tacony Street to access the northbound I-95 on-ramp at Bridge Street. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area due to anticipated backups and delays. As always, all scheduled activities are weather dependent.
This ramp work is part of PennDOT’s $268 million I-95 Section BS2 project. The ambitious initiative aims to reconstruct I-95 between Carver and Margaret Streets and enhance the Bridge Street Interchange.
While this construction may cause short-term inconvenience, it is an important step towards long-term improvements to the highway system in Northeast Philadelphia. Commuters are urged to exercise patience and caution during this work project.
