CHESTER, PA — Price Rite Marketplace, in collaboration with Feed the Children, the Boys & Girls Club of Chester, and Butterball, hosted a significant distribution event on November 7, providing essential support to nearly 400 families in Chester, Pennsylvania. This initiative is part of the supermarket’s “Feeding Minds & Bodies” campaign, which aligns with Feed the Children’s mission to combat food insecurity.
Families identified by the Boys & Girls Club of Chester received comprehensive aid packages, including a 25-pound box of food, a 15-pound box of personal care items, and backpacks filled with school supplies. Additional items such as Price Rite gift cards were also distributed, aiming to alleviate immediate needs and support families during challenging times.
The event witnessed a gathering of notable figures, including Pennsylvania State Senator John Kane, Chester Mayor Stefan Roots, and other local leaders. Their presence underscored the importance of community and government collaboration in tackling hunger.
Kevin McDonnell, President of Price Rite Marketplace, expressed enthusiasm for the decade-long partnership with Feed the Children. “We are excited to celebrate our 10th year in partnership with Feed the Children and work with the Boys & Girls Club to provide resources to children and families in need in 10 cities,” he stated, highlighting the ongoing commitment to supporting vulnerable communities.
The “Feeding Minds & Bodies” initiative, a joint effort with Feed the Children, aims to address childhood hunger by providing necessary resources and raising awareness. With one in five U.S. children facing food insecurity, this partnership seeks to make a significant impact, especially during critical times like summer and the back-to-school season.
Travis Arnold, CEO of Feed the Children, emphasized the importance of collective efforts in addressing hunger. “A widespread issue like childhood hunger will only be solved when enough people work together. Partners like Price Rite, Butterball, and the Boys & Girls Club of Chester are vital to our mission as we serve vulnerable communities,” he remarked.
Since the inception of their partnership, Price Rite Marketplace has donated nearly four million pounds of food and other resources, valued at over $13 million, to benefit more than 200,000 people across 57 cities. This enduring effort reflects a strong commitment to community support and the fight against hunger.
