Prepare for Nighttime Delays: What Route 283 Lane Restrictions Mean for Your Evening Commute!

Lane restrictions

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA — Motorists traveling on westbound Route 283 should prepare for nighttime lane restrictions as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) conducts essential maintenance on digital message boards. This project, managed by Kuharchik Construction, Inc. of Exeter, PA, is part of a broader initiative to maintain or repair Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) equipment across south central Pennsylvania and beyond.

The work is scheduled to take place from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM, starting Tuesday, September 24, and continuing through Friday, September 27, weather permitting. During these hours, the left lane will be closed, and a 10-foot width restriction will apply to the open right lane. Motorists are advised to remain alert and exercise caution as they navigate the work zone.

This maintenance project is crucial for ensuring the reliability and effectiveness of ITS equipment, which plays a vital role in managing traffic flow and enhancing road safety. With an overall contract value of $5,583,518, completion of all related work is anticipated by July 2, 2027. For ongoing updates and to plan your commute, visit the MyChesCo Traffic Center.
